UPDATE: Been meaning to update this that Buddy has been homed and is very happy in his new home, his owners are very lucky and they know it as he is such a fantastic dog! Oh my how cute is Buddy?! Buddy came in on Saturday 6th September 2014 at 9 months old, I took him straight out for a walk on his own, off lead chasing a ball, he was as good as gold. Came back for his lead on too. There were other dogs in the park he didn't even care just stayed focused on the ball which I am very pleased with. He did pull toward a few cars on the way back that drove past, so will need a little work on this. He also chases cats, that's not surprising really. He is a little toy possessive when there are other dogs around but loves to play with other dogs and loves people and children. Buddy is right up my street. He is easy to control on a walk in a group or on his own. He sleeps downstairs at night with free roam of the house and doesn't make a sound or chew and is very clean. I have left him for an hour on his own each day to get him used to it and gradually can build this up over time. This boy will be brilliant for agility, he is very fast and "springy." He can be a little shy when it comes to putting his lead on after a walk although I have only had him do it to me once in 4 days of lots of walks. As long as you can get him to sit close to you, you can get his lead on no problem. Buddy is very active and will be looking for a very active owner who will have the time to spend with him and give him everything he needs and deserves. Buddy is such a good boy, a very fast learner. He has been doing some basic training with me to start with, so sit downs, lay downs, roll over, give paw, leave the food until I say he can have it...etc. He is so willing to learn and really is a super dog.
A few weeks on Buddy is doing great. He still pulls on the lead a fair bit but have had no trouble getting him on the lead as long as I have a treat for him. As I have said before he is a very active dog and wants a job to do. He will need at least two walks a day where he can run off the lead chasing a ball to really use up some of his energy. We even had him helping out with some gardening yesterday where he would carry some plant cuttings to a pile the other side of the garden. Was absolutely hilarious but he was demonstrating just how eager to work and please he is. To the right person this dog will be an absolute dream. I wish I could keep this one all to myself but with two of my own already and to carry on fostering dogs in need Buddy must find a home of his own.
